Kystens Hus is a modern and passionate communicator of what the coast has to offer within seafood, coastal culture, research, innovation and development. In such a perspective, the house has the potential to be able to give ripple effects to the sea faring society of Northern Norway. And emphasize the Norwegian coast as a recognized center of gravity, national and international, in coastal, seafood and northern areas.
The result is a unique co-location of the coast in general and the blue sector in particular. A sustainable coastal arena and a High North initiative in practice. The establishment of such a national competence center has been discussed since the 1990s, and was finally a reality in the fall of 2015 in Tromsø.
Located in the middle of the city, the house is a landmark. A manifestation of the coasts new centrality, and a force for creating increased value.
